Woodchester mansion is another famous local building. Grand and imposing is a popular place with many visitors and is also said to be home to a few permanent residents – yes, it is reputedly one of the most haunted buildings in the area. Countryside – The countryside that surrounds Stroud and all the villages is a huge attraction to walkers, who can explore the Cotswold way, as well as the other beautiful places in the area. Head to Coaley Peak for stunning views out over Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, as well as a neolithic burial site, Minchinhampton Common and Rodborough common, which provide the perfect wide open spaces to enjoy the countryside, or into the many local woodlands that surround the area.
For woodland walks there is the beautiful woodland area of Standish woods, which is lovely to enjoy all year round, and you can also access Haresfield beacon from here, which is another lovely place to sit and take in the glorious views of the surrounding countryside.
